Grace, Gerald Carolan
Description
Gerald (Gerry) Grace was born in Greymouth in 1909 and educated at New Plymouth Boys' High School 1924-1927. He volunteered for the Army in August 1942 then enlisted with the RNZAF in December1942, rising to the rank of Flying Officer. A staff member of Stratford Borough Council 1929-1975, he held the position of Stratford Town Clerk between 1936 and 1975.
Gerry was a life member of the Taranaki Rugby Football Union and Taranaki Rugby Referees Association, past President of the Avon Bowling and Stratford Athletic and Cycling Clubs and life member of the New Zealand Institute of Town Clerks and New Zealand Institute of Local Government Managers. He was awarded the QSM in 1996. He died in 2005 aged 95.
