Air Force Serviceman Rex Ambrose (Bud) Sisley, son of Gordon Hazelman and Ellen Winifred Sisley (nee Lumsden).
Rex and his twin sister Alexis (Lex) Marie were born in Stratford in 1925 and nicknamed Bud and Blossom. After undertaking advanced air training in Canada, graduating in March 1945, Bud fought in Korea in the early 1950s. He married Maisie Pearl Melhose (nee Haskell) in 1955 and the couple had two sons, Bruce and Ross. Bud also adopted Maisie’s daughter Annette from her first marriage. The family farmed in various places including Kohuratahi, Aria and Paihia.
