A Young America breech loading 6 or 8 shot .22 calibre nickle plated rimfire revolver. It has a double action and a solid frame. " H&R Arms Coy, Worcester, Mass. U.S.A. " is marked on the revolver. " WSL 1901 " is scratched on the grip.

Revolvers like this one were commonly known as 'Saturday night specials'. They were quite 'cheap and nasty' and a lot of New Zealanders going to the South African War took these to use as pocket pistols. They would have been concealed in a jacket pocket as they were not officially allowed to be carried.
