Description
A 12 bore percussion smoothbore musket that has been converted from a flintlock mechanism. The entire lock mechanism is missing and a brass plaque is marked " Fishenden ". It has very fine chequering on the wrist.

Credit line
According to old museum records this musket was 'found in a Maori Whare in Porirua'. It would have been a quality weapon when it was first manufactured and it is likely it would have been converted from a flintlock to a percussion lock some time in the 1840s.
