Awl, Strip

Description
A strip awl with a claw shaped head and a straight shank attached to a round wooden handle. " GEO / BARNSLEY & SONS LTD / A / SHEFFIELD / ENG " is written on a yellow sticker with a red diamond which is stuck on the handle. The sticker also features a picture of a shoe. Illegible marks are stamped on the top and the underside of the shank.

This strip awl was used by Robert Graham, who owned a boot repair and saddlery shop in Queen Street, Waitara. These tools were thought to have been used for trimming the edge of leather uppers.
