A New Zealand Medal. The silver medal features a left facing profile of Queen Victoria on the obverse. " VICTORIA D:G:BRITT:REG:F.D " is embossed around the edge of the profile. A wreath is featured on the reverse with " NEW ZEALAND VIRTUTIS HONOR " embossed around the edge of it. " DY. PURVEYOR E.F. HEMMINGWAY, STAFF " is marked on the edge of the medal. The medal is attached to a blue ribbon with a central red stripe by a straight suspension bar ornamented with fern leaf designs. An extra piece of ribbon accompanies it.

This New Zealand Medal was awarded to Edward Frederick Hemingway who served as an assistant purveyor with the 43rd Regiment during the Second Taranaki War.
