Description
A wooden tennis racquet with a black leather grip. The racquet also has a blue cover trimmed with white. " SLAZENGER " is written in black on both sides near the bottom of the head and " Garrick / SMOOTH " is written in orange and black on both side of the shaft. The frame also features the panther logo of the manufacturer and orange and black arrow designs on the frame. " FRAME MADE IN / NEW ZEALAND " is written in black beside a picture of a kiwi on the side of the shaft. A sticker with " Slazenger " and the panther figure on it is stuck to the end of the handle. The racquet cover can be fastened with a zip and it features a small pocket on one side that can be fastened with domes.

This tennis racquet was purchased second hand in the late 1970s by Robin Astridge but nobody in the family took up tennis so it remained unused in storage for years before it was donated to Puke Ariki.
