A metal sewing box with a hinged lid. The box features painted scenes of the English countryside including cottages, flower gardens and a windmill. "OLD ENGLISH/WORKBOX" is painted on the lid. The interior of the lid is painted with a similar scene.

Belonged to the donor's grandmother Muriel Dew who lived for a time in Opunake and later retired in Hawera. It is thought this box may have been obtained in the 1930s after Mrs Dew lost many of her belongings in a carriage fire.
