Serviceman Bruce Willard Ewing (1923-2007) wearing his Home Guard uniform with a pipe in his mouth.
Bruce was the son of Willard and Kathleen Ewing and brother of children’s author Barbara Hill. As a farmer in Egmont Village during the Second World War he was exempt from conscription, serving in the Home Guard instead. Bruce married Olwen Betty Morecraft in 1949 and they had four children: Betty, Rodney, Jane and Anthony (Tony).
