Paul Catchpole, one time member of the Taranaki Club, New Plymouth writes of his memories of the 'Gardening Club' which met on Saturday mornings. He describes the traditions of this all male establishment. The demise of the Taranaki Club saw the disappearance of the Gardening Club in its original form, members continued to meet in the Burtons Bar of the State Hotel.
