A navy blue Taranaki Mounted Volunteers tunic with white facings, piping and a white reversible plastron on the chest. The tunic has silver buttons with royal arms on them.

1882,
the
Taranaki
Mounted
Rifles
adopted
an
impressive
blue
and
white
uniform
of
the
British
Army's
lancer
regiments,
which
included
this
tunic.
The
uniform
may
have
been
used
until
1911
when
the
unit
changed
to
the
khaki
field
dress
that
was
becoming
increasingly
popular
amongst
military
units.
