A red woollen tunic, single breasted, front edges piped in cream wool, buttoned to waist with eight buttons (apparently gilt-bronze). The buttons are moulded with a central lion and the lettering " India, 14, Waterloo ". Stand up collar in cream wool, edged with metallic braid and carrying a single pip. The collar is lined with black twill and interlined with leather and tailor's canvas. High cut armholes. Small welted pocket high on true left breast and a second pocket let into the waist seam on the true right front. Bottom edge of red wool left raw. Long, two-piece, set-in sleeves. Sleeves have cream wool cuffs trimmed with two bands of metallic braid at the top edge and a vertical flap set into front seam. The flap has three points and it trimmed with metallic braid and three buttons. A twisted red cord epaulette is across the true left shoulder and fastens at the base of the collar with a small button. The back has a princess-style seaming from armhole. There is a single vent in the back skirt section. The vent piped with cream wool, trimmed with metallic braid and each side carries three buttons. There are flaps similar to to those of the sleeves at each side of the vent. The flaps are set into seams which are a continuation of the upper back seams. The upper section is lined with fine twill silk and there is a padded interlining in this section also. The skirt section is lined with cream wool. There are vertical pockets set into the lining on each of the centre back vent.
