This is John & Mary Johnson's son, John Jnr [1 Sept 1841—17 Dec 1903]. He was born aboard the 'Amelia Thompson', two days before the ship arrived at New Plymouth. His clothing here is probably the uniform of the Taranaki Volunteers. Only John Snr was in the Armed Constabulary. John Jnr never married.

This is my great-great grandfather. He came to NZ on the "Amelia Thompson" with his wife Mary, his daughter Mary aged 4 (She later married Alexander Telfar and lived at Urenui), and his 1year old son William, who I believe is Lieutenant Johnson. He married Jane Williams Marshall.
