A six stringed guitar with ivory tuning keys. It comes in a dark wooden case with a triple hinged lid, two of the hinges of the lid are missing and the inside of the case is lined in red.
The guitar belonged to Edwin Harris who arrived in New Plymouth with other Plymouth Company settlers on the William Bryan on 31 March 1841. According to the diary of fellow passenger Dr Henry Weekes, Edwin entertained others with his guitar during the voyage.
