Description
A 1796 pattern British light cavalry trooper's sword with a plain wrought iron scabbard. The sword has a curved, broad fullered steel blade with a flat back and a wrought iron stirrup hilt. The wooden grip of the sword is covered in leather. " WOOLLEY " is marked on the back of blade. " B " is also marked on the back of the blade together with another unidentified mark which looks a little like a partial " 8 " The blade has been broken and then repaired, a repair mark is visible 22cm back from the tip. The scabbard is fitted with two narrow bands to take loose suspension rings but the lower suspension ring is missing.
