Description
An 1856 model five shot percussion Beaumont-Adams patent .44 calibre double action revolver. The Kerr's Patent bullet rammer is missing and there is a lanyard hole through the one piece wooden grip. It is marked " Robt Adam's patent 30967 " and has Birmingham proof marks. " 648 " is also marked on it.

This is the type of revolver which was commonly used by units of the Forest Rangers during the New Zealand Wars. It was also a common Armed Constabulary weapon and the drilling of the lanyard hole through the butt was common when they were used by these units.
