 Description
Edward "Ted" James Batten was son of James Alexander and Florence Elizabeth Batten, of New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand; husband of Emily Alice Batten, of New Plymouth. Served as a Private in 25 (Wellington) Infrantry Battalion. Killed in action during campaign in Greece on 19 May 1941, aged 26. His name is on the Athens Memorial, Phaleron War Cemetery, Athens, Greece and in The Taranaki Cathedral of St Mary, New Plymouth.
