Amputee Society of Taranaki
Description
Records of The Amputee Society of Taranaki.
Established 24 August 1966 as a sub-branch of the Central Districts and Manawatu Civilian Amputee Association the name changed in 1967 to the New Plymouth Civilian Amputee Assocition (C.A.A.), later that year were granted District Association status. After a period of inactivity in the early 1980's, the society was reformed as an incorporated society in 1984 as the Amputee Society of Taranaki to provide support, information and social activities for amputees and their families and to liase with health professionals, government departments, service agencies and key community groups. The society has a membership that extends throughout Taranaki and is affliated to the Amputee Federation of New Zealand. Meetings are held every month from February to November.
