Description
Obelisk memorial erected in 1903 on a hill overlooking the main lake in Pukekura Park (then known as the Recreation Ground) in honour of Clement Edward Wiggins (1872-1900) who died in South Africa during the Boer War. The memorial was made of polished grey Aberdeen granite on a base of Melbourne bluestone and was paid for by Wiggins' former colleagues at the Bank of New South Wales in Eltham and New Plymouth. The memorial was later removed.
