Hemingway, Edward Frederick Henry (Ned)
Description
Son of Captain E.F. Hemingway, Ned was born in France in 1873 and educated in England. He came out to New Zealand in 1892 and taught at Matau School 1897 - 1898 before moving to Stratford as Town Clerk 1902-1911. From 1911 to 1942 he edited the Patea and Waverley Press. From 1938-1941 he was Mayor of Patea .
A member of the Wanganui Education Board 1916-1947 he was chairman from 1933-1947.
Ned married Eva Dixon of Stratford in 1901and had two daughters. He died on the 8 February 1947 aged 74 years.
