Description
Oral history. An interview with Trevor Wright (1911-2000) who was involved in mountain sports and a foundation member of the Taranaki Alpine Club. He remembers his first climb of Mount Egmont/Taranaki as a school boy in 1924 and many exploits on the mountain including the building of Tahurangi Hut and the renovation of other mountain huts including Holly Hut. Trevor held various administrative positions within the Taranaki Alpine Club and describes the activities of the club both on and off the mountain. During his working life he ran the Kapuni Country Store, worked for State Insurance and ran a business in Masterton.
