Description
A set of fashion plates that are attached down the centre. The front depicts two coloured plates from Elite Styles. The back shows what is titled as "Handsome Fall and Winter Garments" from "Le Costume Elegant" in black and white. The first Elite Styles plate is titled: "Plate No. 19" from Album Reve, Paris/Vol. I, No.5/November, 1897. It depicts two women, one in a yellow ensemble that has a jacket with a high collar and sleeves that are puffy at the shoulders and taper to the wrist. Underneath is a blue blouse and she is holding a parasol. The woman next to her on the viewer's right is wearing a blue gown with broad shoulders and decorated panels diagonally running down the front to the waist. She has a narrow waist that has a belt and a full skirt with gores. Above are small sketches of the back views. The next plate reads: "Elite Styles, Plate No. 18/From Le Costume Elegant/Vol. I, No. 5/November 1897." It depicts a woman in a blue dress that has white ribbons running up and down with bows where they intersects. She is accompanying a bride in a white lace gown that has numerous narrow pleats running vertically, a full train and veil. The bride has puff sleeves that taper down to the wrist and a large bow across the front of her bodice. The back shows twelve small black and white sketched fashions for the fall and winter seasons.
