Brace
Description
An ultimatum framed brace with an oval, swivel jointed handle to which two "Z" shaped frames are attached. An ebony knob is attached to one of the frames. "WILLIAM MARPLES & SONS/HIBERNIA/WORKS/SHEFFIELD" is embossed on a circular brass plate on the top of the ebony knob. "WILLIAM MARPLES SOLE MANUFACTURER/OF THE ULTIMATUM FRAMED BRACE/SHEFFIELD" is engraved on one of the brass plates on the frame. "BY HER MAJESTYS ROYAL LETTERS PATENT" is engraved on the other brass plate. "W.V" and "W VANT" are engraved on the other side of the plates. There is no bit accompanying the brace.
