Worshipful Brother J. Hawkins, probably James Hawkins, an Inspector for New Zealand Railways. Hawkins was a member of the Hawera Masonic Lodge and died on 18 June 1902 (not to be confused with hotel proprietor James Hawkins who also lived in the district at that time.

Probably James Hawkins, 'Inspector Permanent Ways New Zealand Railways' who died in Hawera on 18 June 1902, age 57. He was a member of the Hawera Lodge and there is a newspaper notice for lodge members to attend his funeral. (not to be confused with James Hawkins, the hotel proprietor, also in the district at that time)
