Hat

Description
A twill hat with a soft brim and crown that has been painted with shades of green. The hat is reinforced with lines of topstitching all over and there are two sewn eyelets on each side of the crown. Made for the 3rd NZ Division serving in the Pacific during the Second World War.

This hat was made for the 3rd NZ Division in the Pacific during WW2 (1943-44). They were made in a bottle green colour but this example looks like it has been made in khaki drill fabric and then camouflaged in the same manner as the jungle suits. In any case a very rare important hat. Barry
