Lands, Deeds and Stamp Duties Department, New Plymouth
Production date
26 Jan 1922
Description
Staff of the Lands, Deeds and Stamp Duties Department outside the registry office in New Plymouth in 1922. The building was constructed next to the police station on the corner of Powderham and Robe Streets in 1913 and demolished in 1968. Reported to have been “the most solidly constructed building in the city”, with brick walls two feet thick, it took a three-tonne steel wrecking ball to bring it down.
