Watson, Mathew
Description
A collection of papers relating to Mathew Watson, of the 57th Regiment (the Diehards). Matthew Watson was born in England 1830 and fought with the 57th Regiment in the Crimea and India during the Indian Mutiny. In 1861 he arrived in New Zealand and was discharged from the army. He settled in Oakura district where he lived until his death in 1914.
