Description
A three-part wedding headpiece with a headband and two matching hair ornaments. The headband is a half-circle shaped wire that is embellished with a cluster of gold paper flowers and leaves that have been coated in a layer of wax followed by a lustrous glaze. Underneath the wax, the paper has been shaded with a dark line around the edges and midrib of the leaves. On each side of the headband there is a narrow gold elastic band attached. The stem of the two hair ornaments is made of wire that has been wrapped in paper. From the stem there are shoots of flowers and leaves that match those found on the headband.

This headband was worn by Natalie Reville. Mrs Reville came to New Plymouth in 1950 to work as a nurse and it was during this time that she met her husband. Mrs Reville was married on 5 July 1955 and she had her wedding dress made in New Plymouth by Mrs Suhr, a local dressmaker. This headband was purchased in New Plymouth and the materials for the dress were purchased at Haughton's Dress Fabric shop.
