Badge (Girl Guides)
A small circular black Girl Guides badge featuring a kiwi at the centre surrounded by a red ring. The kiwi is standing on some green grass. The bade is a Girl Guide patrol emblem for the Kiwi patrol.
This badge belonged to Judy Jones (nee Donnelly) who attended Girl Guides in New Plymouth in the early 1960s. A girl Guide company was divided into small groups of girls called patrol, and each patrol was usually named after a bird. This badge would have denoted being part of the Kiwi patrol, and was worn along with a shoulder-knot of brown woven strips on the top of the the left sleeve.
