Badge (Girl Guides)
A small brown fabric badge featuring a yellow embroidered hand with the palm facing forward and two fingers extended. " GIRL GUIDES " is embroidered in yellow beneath the hand.
This badge belonged to Judy Jones (nee Donnelly) who attended Girl Guides in New Plymouth in the early 1960s. This badge is a Golden Hand badge, the highest progression badge that could be attained by a Brownie. In the early 1960s, a Brownie needed to earn this badge before she could proceed to Girl Guides, when she would then wear Brownie wings on her Girl Guides uniform.
