Description
An Educational Tour of New Zealand board game. The game includes a foldable board with a path that is divided into 111 squares. Various New Zealand towns and localities are scattered along the path and pictures of various New Zealand scenes feature on the board. "HOLDSON'S/ Educational/ TOUR of/ NEW ZEALAND" is written in the top right corner of the board beside a map of New Zealand. The game includes a square cardboard box which matches the board and features a scenic shot on the lid. "Holdson's/TOUR OF/ NEW ZEALAND/ EDUCATIONAL AND INSTRUCTIVE" is also written on the lid. The rules for playing the game are enclosed on the inside of the box. The box contains 23 circular plastic counters, 1 die, and a small canister to use when rolling the die.

The simple game was one of a series created by Auckland manufacturer Thos Holdsworth & Sons and the board was designed by Christchurch artist Dudley Bain. This particular example was given to a child at a by "Santa Claus" at a Caledonian Society picnic in Auckland in the late 1960s or early 1970s.
