Description
The construction of the New Plymouth War Memorial Hall, Library and Museum, 1960. This building was designed by architects Taylor and Collins in association with F John Bowering. This photograph documents the laying of foundations and steel girders (reinforced concrete). The site of this building (11 Ariki Street) was occupied previously by the Carnegie Library and the Museum as well as commercial properties including Griffiths Buildings, offices, Gibson motors and WS Gilberts (seed merchants).
