Description
Oral history recording. Walter (Wally) Eric Winstanley (1921-2012) of the 25th Battalion New Zealand Division describes his experiences as a prisoner of war in Germany during World War Two. Wally worked at the Mangorei Butter Factory before being called up. He was captured in Italy on 3 December 1943 and taken to Stalag IV-B in modern day Mühlberg ad Elbe. Wally discusses the POW transport to Germany, interrogations and food in the camp and his fellow prisoners.
