Oral history. Francis May Conquest (nee Kilgour) was born in 1918 in Greymouth and later moved to Napier. She talks of the Napier earthquake. Conquest worked for an accountant before training as a dental nurse. Francis was married late 1940's and began potting as a hobby in the late '60's. She mentions various local potters and describes working with various local clays. She talks of the New Plymouth Potter's Group, the New Zealand Society of Potters, weekend schools, technical advances and the formation of the pottery co-operative which opened the Potter's Gallery.
