Description
Ronald Brindley Leonard was born on 17 October 1916 in Somerset, UK. In this interview, he describes his arrival in New Zealand, living Wellington and his father working with Shell Oil and Atlantic Union. Leonard later moved to New Plymouth and completed an engineering apprenticeship. He discusses Swanson's Engineering, Hydro schemes, marine engineering, trams, trolley buses and electric buses. Ronald worked for the New Plymouth City Council Transport Dept in their workshop. He also recollects family information, Napier and Murchison earthquakes, working at Swanson's Engineering and technical descriptions of work both in Swanson's and on the trams/trolley buses. He died in December 1995 aged 79.
