A copy of a limited edition publication released in 1970 entitled "Early Days in Taranaki and After" by Lewis Watkins. The third of four boys, Lewis describes his schooling and rural life in South Taranaki. Also included are copies of letters written by his Matthew Watkins to his sister Pollie in England. Later, Lewis and his wife Nellie moved to Arahiwi where they continued farming and the narration finishes in 1942 with the family near Tirau.
