Description
Typescript. John Wallace writes to his friend William Lort describing the settlement of New Plymouth. The letter was sent from Port Nicholson while Wallace was there on business. He describes the countryside, people and business enterprises and mentions the names Howard and Ellerslie at various times, reporting on their business trading. Ellerslie was trading between the Chathams and New Zealand. 4 January 1842
