Inscriptions:
1) 'Thomas Browning 1783' (erased) front cover.
2) ' ....Janaway [?] his book [God give him] grace to look and not to ...but understand that learning is better [than] house and land. When house and land is gone and spent then learning is most excellent. 1813'.
3) 'William Worley' (end of Apocrypha).
4) NT title: 'Edward Noble 1812'. Note in another hand facing this: 'N.B. This Bible was printed 56 years after the first printed bible in our language which was a translation by Willm Tindal assisted by Miles Coverdale which only contained ye New Testament dated 1526. The bible printed in the reign of Queen Mary in 1557 called ye Geneva Bible this was the first English Bible when there was any dislocation of verses made which was 23 years before this bible was printed'.
Erased: 'In the 22do year of Queen Elizabeth's Reign this Bible was Printed who reigned 22 years 4 months and 7 days after [,] which make her whole Reign 44 years 4 months & 7 days. Thos. Browning'. Prelim. to NT : 'William Worley his booke witness Charles Worley' 'no witness at all'.
5) Long erudite scriptural note at end of OT (16th or 17th C) in tiny hand.
6) Verso of title to Concordances: 'Robert Burgis' [Burgess], much scribble, and '26 Sept. 1636'. e.g. 'Mary Burgis lived att Cambridg, maryeed and a widow'. List of children (Mary, John, Thomas, James, etc Burgis) in order of birth.
7)Back cover: 'Ed. Nodes, Cottesham [?], Cambridgeshire 1812'.
