Description
Oral history. Ivan was born in Croatia in 1946, and begins by describing his early life before emigrating to New Zealand in 1963, and compares the changes he discovered on a return visit to Croatia in 1974. He emigrated to join family members in New Plymouth, and work in his uncle's restaurant, De Lux. He describes his new life in New Zealand, learning to speak English, and working. After working briefly in the oil Industry, he set up his own restaurant in Inglewood, then worked in fish distribution, and owned the Hi-Fri Restaurant in Vogeltown.
