Description
Oral history. Pauline was born in Sheffield, England, in 1919 and begins with a brief description of her childhood. Pauline finished training as a nurse in 1941 and describes working throughout the war in Hospitals in Sheffield. Pauline married Roy, a New Zealander, in 1943, and after war service with the British Council in Cyprus and South America describes her flight from Peru to New Zealand in 1951. She relates her first impressions of New Zealand. After her family grew up Pauline returned to nursing, working at Iona Hospital in New Plymouth, and then as a District Nurse. She describes some working experiences and the differences she found in nursing duties. Finally, on the the third tape Pauline speaks of various clubs (Brevet club, Air Force Club, Womens club, Probus, War Brides) and various people involved in medicine in New Plymouth.
