Oral history. Born in Kimberley, South Africa, in 1923 Beryl describes her family background and life in South Africa. In 1952 Beryl went to Ilkley in Yorkshire, England, to Theological College for two years. On returning to South Africa, she became Deaconess in the Methodist Church. Beryl emigrated to New Zealand in 1957 to marry her husband, in Christchurch, and in 1966 moved with her family to New Plymouth. They lived in the first Lockwood home in New Plymouth. Beryl has been involved with Church groups, Life-line and the Hearing Association.
