Oral history. Tom was born in Nottingham, England, in 1918. He describes his reasons for leaving England, his journey out to New Zealand on the ship Atlantis in 1949, and his first experience as a new immigrant. He trained at New Plymouth Boys High School dairy farm. He married Sheila (1955) and describes his life on their farm at Tarurutangi.
