Sydney Bridger recalls life on the family farm at Egmont Village. Talks about family - grandfather Swan. Clearing of bush at Inglewood and general living conditions. Talks of depression years and contract work - Waiwakaiho - Mangamahoe dam 1937-38. Recalls farm living conditions. Ascents of mountain. Also overseas service during WWII. Service in the Solomon Islands, the Japanese defeat. After the war he returned to Inglewood and took up a position with the County Council.
