The collection consists of records for the National Council of Women of New Zealand, Taranaki Branch 1930-2013.
The National Council of Women (NCW) was formed in 1896, went into recess in 1910 and was reconstituted seven years later. Initially called the Women's Parliament, the NCW has lobbied for law reform which would raise the status of women in New Zealand. Over the years it has been and continues to be, the co-ordinating body and oracle for numerous women's organisations on a political level.
