Oral history. Nona talks her early years at Hurworth cottage, near New Plymouth.
Born 1917, Omata Taranaki. Talks of her childhood, being raised in the Hurworth area, schooling at Carrington Road School and later High School. She describes the layout of the house [Hurworth] - no electricity. Family very sports orientated - children expected to do well. Her Grandmother (Elizabeth Sefton) was governess to Atkinson children. Nona was the 11th child. Describes her father making her a swing and a swimming pool for the family. there were dances and euchre. She talks about her sister digging up a bag of sovereigns and the hunt for the missing Spode dinner set.
