Tape 1 Side 1:
Born 1919. Talks of childhood in Christchurch - witnessing the tramway dispute. Had a great love of reading - the Fabian Society. Went to Wellington Teachers College and enjoyed liberal philosophy. Talks of his ideas and approach to education. Returned to teaching after the war Pahiatua District High School, Whakamara.
Tape 1 Side 2:
Took position of rural advisor - 65 schools from Pirinoa to Pongaroa (Ekatahuna, Martinborough) In 1962 he returned to New Plymouth as second principal at Highlands Intermediate. Talks of changes to the curriculum etc.
Tape 2 Side 1:
Left Highlands Intermediate and joined the Inspectorate. Explains role of the Inspectorate Was Inspector for 10 years. Reflects over his years in education.
