b. 1926, New Plymouth. Wanting to follow in his father's footsteps (general practitioner), Robert trained as a doctor at Otago Medical School. He decided to continue and specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He talks of his practice and changes such as 'the pill', abortion, home births etc.

Tape 1 Side 2:

Talks of Taranaki Base Hospital. Also talks of his mother who helped establish Bingham House.
