Tape 1 Side 1:

Born 1916, Inglewood. Parents were farming in Tarata, working on farms after leaving school - droving etc. Talks of life at Tarata. Talks of the Acclimatization Society. Did a short stint with the army during WWII and was invalided home after 7 months. Farming in Bedford Road.

Tape 1 Side 2:

Left farm in 1979 and moved to Inglewood. Talks of children - 3 sons. Reminisces of childhood - milking by hand, mothers death when he was 7 yrs old, past times, bullock teams, 1931 earthquake etc.
