Born 1904, New Plymouth. Father was a carpenter who helped build the Opera House and State Theatre. Educated at St Josephs and left school at 15 and worked in a sewing factory. She talks of her wedding at St Mary's Church New Plymouth, 1924 and going farming at Whangamomona. Describes life without mod cons. Describes a trip to New Plymouth Hospital with appendicitis. Talks of the Whangamomona Railways restaurant - serving passengers off the trains. Made all own pies - always sold out. Also own bread.
