Description
Oral history recording. Stanley Arthur Lay (1906-2003) was a prominent sportsman, competing overseas in the javelin and winning a gold medal at the British Empire Games in Vancouver, Canada in 1930. Stan discusses his childhood in New Plymouth and Hawera and his various sporting achievements including at the 1928 Olympic Games. and the 1950 Commonwealth Games. He also talks about his family and personal life. Stan was awarded an MBE in 1977.
